Anonymous hits US Security Firm
Dec 26 2011 07:12 AM | mr.d in Tech Today
A US based security think tank Stratfor was hacked today, as claimed by a hacker group that call themselves Anonymous.Anonymous boasted of stealing Stratfor's confidential client list, which includes entities ranging from Apple Inc. to the US Air Force to the Miami Police Department, and mining it for more than 4,000 credit card numbers, passwords and home addresses. - IBN
Some of the victims who's information was stolen have confirmed unauthorized activity on their credit cards.
Stratfor's website is currently still "down for maintenance".
Anonymous claims to have stolen over 200GBs of data, and that they have only leaked a small piece today. They also say the attack was made possible by Stratfor's lack on encryption on credit card data, which if found to be true could mean bad news for the security company.
