“We heard from our community that developers want to have for Windows desktop development the same great experience and access to the latest Visual Studio 2012 features at the Express level,” wrote S. Somasegar, corporate vice president of Microsoft's developer division, in a blog post on Friday.


After initially saying that VSE would allow only for the creation of Metro style apps, Microsoft took it back saying now that developers will be able to create desktop style applications as well. Anyone plan on using this free version of Visual Studio? Supposedly they are adding a lot of functionality from the full blown application, so if you didn't want to pay for the full version perhaps now this free one will offer everything you've been waiting for.
